Wrapping Up the Final Week of In-House CPR CPD Before Christmas

With the last week of in-house CPD before Christmas coming to a close, it’s time to reflect on where we’ve been and the incredible teams we’ve had the pleasure of working with. Staying close to home this week, we focused our efforts in Greater Manchester, meeting two fantastic veterinary teams who were eager for CPR training to refresh their knowledge and prepare for 2025.

First Stop: Vets4Pets Trafford Park

Our first visit was to the team at Vets4Pets Trafford Park, who were keen to get up to speed with the latest RECOVER protocols through our In-House CPR CPD.

I always enjoy working with Vets4Pets teams, as their protocols are consistently of a high standard, and this group was no exception. They were enthusiastic, inquisitive, and incredibly welcoming.

The day began with our “Surviving CPR presentation, covering the essential theory behind effective resuscitation. We then transitioned to hands-on workshops where the team practiced:

  • Chest compressions on our CPR dog dummy.
  • Ventilations using our airway management dummy.
  • Quality control using the CPR Cube, which provides feedback on compression rate and depth.

To wrap up the session, we challenged the team with flashcards to test their knowledge. A huge thumbs-up to the team—they matched every card correctly! Thank you, Vets4Pets Trafford Park, for such an engaging and productive day.

Next Stop: Mount Road Veterinary Centre

Our second visit of the week was to Mount Road Veterinary Centre, where the team needed a CPR refresh to prepare for an exciting year ahead, including welcoming a vet student and SVN on their journey to qualification.

Katherine, the practice manager, also requested a run-through of first aid scenarios for their ANA and student team. These scenarios covered a range of emergencies, including:

  • Eye emergencies.
  • Poisonings.
  • Road traffic accidents (RTAs).
  • And much more!

The team demonstrated impressive enthusiasm and a strong foundation of knowledge. Once again, the flashcard challenge was a highlight, with the SVN and vet student acing it by matching all the cards correctly!

We’re looking forward to returning to Mount Road Veterinary Centre in 2025 when they receive their brand-new multiparameter. We’ll be helping them with specialised anaesthesia and multiparameter training to make the most of their new equipment.

Looking Ahead

If your practice is in need of in-house training, we offer tailored workshops on topics including:

  • Anaesthesia protocols and monitoring.
  • Multiparameter setup and usage.
  • CPR workshops with RECOVER guidelines.

Alternatively, join us in January 2025 for our live event, which will cover both CPR and multiparameter training.

Thank you to all the teams we’ve worked with this year—it’s been an incredible journey. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Here’s to a learning-filled 2025! 🎄🎉
